Abstract
This study aims to describe the differences, similarities, nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, and number words. The researcher used Morris Swadesh's theory of 300 words and its implication in Indonesian language learning. This research used descriptive qualitative method, semantic approach, free listening and note taking technique, and content analysis technique. The data sources of this research are five Malaysian native speakers. The results show that there are 81 differences between Malay and Indonesian vocabularies and 219 similarities. Of the 300 vocabularies, they are classified into word classes, namely there are 69 verbs, 134 nouns, 21 pronouns, 11 number words, 57 adjectives, and 8 adverbs. Based on the results of the research, the similarity of Morris Swadesh words is 73% similarity from Morris Swadesh theory. Meanwhile, the difference in the research results is 27% for the difference in words. The results of this study can be applied to Indonesian language learning at the XII grade high school level, namely in Basic Competency 3.11 which contains "Analyzing the literacy of articles read".
