Abstract

Daun ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas L.) memiliki banyak efek farmakologi dan dapat berpotensi sebagai obat tradisional, namun belum banyak data keamanan yang cukup untuk digunakan pada ibu hamil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melengkapi data keamanan dari tanaman ubi jalar ungu dan mengetahui efek teratogenik yang disebabkan oleh pemberian fraksi etil asetat daun ubi jalar ungu pada masa kehamilan terhadap janin. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat kelompok yaitu kontrol (Na-CMC), perlakuan 1 (110,5 mg/KgBB), perlakuan 2 (221 mg/KgBB), dan perlakuan 3 (442 mg/KgBB). Pemberian sediaan fraksi etil asetat daun ubi jalar ungu secara oral dilakukan selama masa organogenesis hari ke-9 sampai ke-17 kehamilan. Setelah hari ke-18 induk mencit dibedah dan dilakukan pengamatan meliputi bobot fetus, panjang fetus, jumlah fetus hidup, fetus mati, implantasi, embrio yang diresorpsi, kelainan eksternal fetus dan pemeriksaan kelainan rangka fetus. Berdasarkan hasil statistika ANOVA menunjukkan pemberian fraksi etil asetat berpengaruh nyata terhadap keterlambatan pertumbuhan tulang dada (asimetris shaped) dan tulang badan vertebra sakrokaudalis (F > F crit 0,05) dan berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap keterlambatan pertumbuhan tulang interparietal, supraoksipital, dan badan vertebra servikalis (F > F crit 0,01) dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol (Na-CMC). Hasil uji DMRT dapat disimpulkan dosis 221 mg/KgBB merupakan dosis minimum penyebab efek teratogenik terhadap fetus mencit (Mus musculus).
