Abstract

This study aims to determine the depth of peat in the piled up soil at the Bait Qur'an Islamic Boarding School in Sepuh Village using the 2-dimensional Wenner-Schlumberger geoelectric method for a development. Peat has a very high void ratio and is highly compressible. This method involves drilling a hole in the area to be measured using a drill or other drilling tool. Peat soil has different properties from ordinary soil, which has a low carrying capacity and tends to decrease after some time. Therefore, determining the depth of peat in the soil stockpile before constructing the development foundation is an important step in ensuring the stability of the building in the long term. On track 1 it can be seen that the distribution of peat is at a depth of 4.63 – 12.0 meters, for track 2 the distribution of peat is at a depth of 0.625 – 4.63 meters. On track 3 the distribution of peat is visible from the surface to a depth of 4.63 meters and on track 4 the distribution of peat is visible at a depth of 0.625 – 4.63 meters. In general, the subsurface peat lithology in the study area is dominated by peat soil, sandy loam soil.
