Abstract

The existence of Covid-19 pandemic affected many sectors, one of which was the agricultural sector, namely rice farming in Sungai Dua Village. The government's policy of implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions causes diff farmers difficulty obtaining subsidized fertilizers, so farmers are forced to reduce the use of subsidized fertilizers, decreasing mers' their income. The objectives of this study are to: 1) Analyze the difference in income of rice farmers before the pandemic and during the Covid-19 pandemic situation; 2) Analyze the factors that affected the decline in rice farmers' income during the Covid-19 pandemic; and 3) Analyze rice farmers' strategies in the face of a decrease in income during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted in May–June 2023 in Sungai Dua Village, Rambutan District, Banyuasin Regency. The data collection method uses the survey method, which is then processed using Excel and SPSS 16.0. Selection of the sample using the random sampling method The results showed that: 1) There was a significant difference between farmers' income before and during the Covid-19 pandemic; 2) Factors that had a significant effect on rice farmers' income, namely land area, level of education, fertilizer costs, and labor costs, while the time period dummy has no significant effect on the income of rice farmers; and 3) Dominant rice farmers use a passive strategy with a score of 7.29 and moderate criteria. While the active strategy and network strategy are in the low criteria with a score of 6.31 and 4.67, respectively.
