Abstract

Increasing the content of zircon sand (ZrSiO4) to ZrO2 grade zircon sand ≥65.5% and grain size passed the filter 60 mesh ≥ 95% is one of the efforts to increase the added value of these raw materials in accordance with the mandate in ESDM Regulation No. 8 of 2015 concerning Changes to ESDM Regulation No.1 of 2014 concerning Increasing Added Value of Minerals through Mineral Processing and Refining Activities in the Country. By using magnetic separators and high tension separators) zircon sand content can be increased to ZrO2 grade zircon sand ≥ 65.5%. Based on the results of financial calculations of the zircon sand processing business (ZrSiO4) into a concentrate with a ZrO2 grade of ≥65.5%, by investing Rp.19,671,988,800, it is estimated that it will get a net present value (NPV) of Rp. 6.013.498.720,23, a profitability index of 1,7 and an efficiency level indicator (internal rate of return, IRR) of 21 % per year with a return on capital at 3 Years 2 Weeks. When processed into micronized zircon, with a capital of Rp.28,566,406,400, it turns out to get an NPV of Rp. 49.534.085.653.33-,, a profitability index of 3,6, and an efficiency level indicator (IRR) of 63% per year with a return on capital after 1 Years 5 Months. Based on the calculations above, the zircon sand processing business to produce micronized zircon is worth working on. Building a micronized zircon processing plant is much more profitable because the added value is 2 times greater than just processing it into a minimum ZrO2 grade zircon concentrate of 65.5%.
