Abstract

This study aims to determine the species of plants, organs used, ingredients and ways of processing plants as traditional medicinal ingredients by The Malay Tribe of Central Bangka in the Sungai Selan District. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Descriptive method is a method used to find elements, characteristics, characteristics of a phenomenon through various techniques to be analyzed and interpreted. Data collection was carried out through semi-structural interviews using interview guidelines with informants. The research obtained 40 plant species belonging to 28 families. The most widely used plants are the Zingiberaceae tribe as many as 6 species of plant namely, bonglai (Zingiber montanum), kunyet puteh (Curcuma mangga), laos (Alpinia galanga), jaik mirah (Zingiber officinale), laos (Alpinia malaccensis), cekor (Kaempferia galanga) and kunyet (Curcuma domestica). Parts of plants commonly used as traditional medicine include roots, rhizomes, stems, bark, leaves, flowers and fruit. Among these parts, the part of the plant that is most widely used is the leaf. The use of medicinal plants by the people of the Malay Tribe of Central Bangka is used to treat 24 types of diseases including, kidney stones, magh, high blood pressure, typhoid, toothache, diabetes, diarrhea, malaria, swollen feet, ulcers, coughs, yellow/liver, post-partum care, care for female organs, body aches, colds, skin pain, eye pain, loss of appetite, open wounds, low blood pressure, poor breastfeeding, baby care (0-12 months), and headaches. These medicinal plants can be processed by chewing, boiling, rubbing, soaking, pounding, grinding, burning, squeezing, or grating. This research can be used as a source of information for class X high school students in studying the subject matter Plantae Basic Competency 3.7. Applying classification principles to classify plants into divisios based on observations of plant morphology and metagenesis and linking their role in the continuity of life on earth. Contributions are given in the form of lesson plans and booklets.
