Abstract

The period of hormonal changes in women, especially pregnant women and post-partum women, is one of the things that causes anxiety. Anxiety is a tension that arises from stress (getting a stressor), the impact of anxiety will interfere in the process of childbirth and after childbirth. One effort to overcome prenatal anxiety is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. The postpartum phase requires the mother to adapt to dramatic physical changes so that it can affect the mother's psychology, one of which is anxiety. Continuing postpartum anxiety has a negative impact on both the mother and the baby. One way to reduce anxiety is by progressive muscle relaxation. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of progressive auto relaxation to reduce post partum mothers' anxiety. The research design is an experiment with a quasi-experimental method approach, namely a quantitative research method used to determine the effect of the independent variable (treatment/treatment) on the dependent variable (outcome) under controlled conditions. The conditions are controlled so that there are no other variables (besides the treatment variable) that affect the dependent variable. However, it does not use a control group so that the sample will be limited and homogenized. A total of 18 respondents. The instrument used was the HARS questionnaire. The results of the study were analyzed by way of assessing anxiety by giving a value to the category that has been determined and determining the degree of anxiety by adding up the score 1-56. The results showed that progressive muscle relaxation therapy was effective in reducing post partum mothers' anxiety, as indicated by the results of changes in the mother's psychology by 50% to 80%.
