Abstract

This study aims to identify family education by parents in Desa Permata Baru Kecamatan Indralaya Utara Sumatera Selatan for their children according to their gender. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. This study also uses the parenting theory approach by Elizabeth B.Hurlock namely authoritarian, democratic, permissive parenting to identify the parenting styles of parents in Desa Permata Baru towards their children. The results of this study indicate that there is more than one type of parenting style in several families in Desa Permata Baru, depending on the targets or goals that parents want to achieve in raising children and based on how children behave or behave at home in the process of parenting from an early age to adulthood. Parents in Desa Permata Baru have also adapted their life experiences in applying parenting methods to everyday life at home so that the forms and processes of parenting in a family can be passed on from parents to the next children.
