Abstract

Gasification technology is currently advancing with various types of gasification reactors. These reactors have different types and characteristics of material feeding suitable for raw materials, and Indonesia possesses various coal qualities, necessitating research to determine the appropriate gasification reactor type based on coal rank. A simulation of gasification is conducted to determine the composition and syngas products of the gasification process. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is employed for decision-making in selecting the gasification reactor. Three categories of respondents—practicians, Government Officials, and academics—were chosen to analyse the reactor suitable for Coal Gasification. Gasification simulation is performed using the ASPEN PLUS software. The AHP research results indicate that respondents prefer the entrained flow reactor as the suitable choice for coal at the research location, with criteria based on %H2 and %CO, as well as coal characteristics, being the primary considerations for reactor selection. The entrained flow reactor's suitability is supported by simulation results, showing a Cold Gas Efficiency (CGE) of 99% and a carbon conversion efficiency (CCE) of 83%, with the resulting syngas being predominantly composed of CO at 92.21%, H2 at 3.13%, and CH4 at 0.31%.
