Abstract

The growth and feed efficiency of climbing perch are still relatively low, it needs to be increased. The addition of cinnamon leaves meal to the feed can increase the growth and feed efficiency. This research was conducted to determine the best percentage of addition of cinnamon leaves meal to the feed to maximized the growth and feed efficiency of climbing perch. This research was carried out at the Fisheries Basic Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, and proximate analysis of feed was carried out at the Fish Nutrition Laboratory, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, IPB University on January - March 2023. This research used a completely randomized design which consists of four treatments and three replications. The treatment given was the addition of cinnamon leaves meal to commercial pellets with different percentages, included 0% (P0), 0.50% (P1), 1% (P2), and 1.50% (P3). Parameters in this study included absolute weight and length growth of fish, protein efficiency ratio, feed efficiency, survival rate, and water quality of climbing perch rearing media. The results showed that the best percentage of adding cinnamon leaves meal to commercial pellets for climbing perch was found at P1 (0.50%) which resulted each absolute weight and length growth 1.06 g, and 0.82 cm, protein efficiency ratio of 1.14, feed efficiency of 41.91%, and survival of 94.44%. The measured water quality data includes temperature ranged from 26.1 to 28.9°C, pH ranged from 6.72 to 6.86, dissolved oxygen ranged from 3.9 to 5.5 mg L-1, and ammonia ranged from 0.012 to 0.064 mg L-1.
