Abstract

The aims of this study were: (1) to find out aspects of loneliness (loneliness) experienced by the elderly (2) to find out the efforts of the elderly to overcome loneliness (loneliness). facts and data regarding social and emotional aspects of loneliness (loneliness) experienced by the elderly and the efforts of the elderly to overcome feelings of loneliness. The informants of this study consisted of 4 elderly and 3 officers. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the emotional lonely type is more dominantly experienced by the elderly than the social loneliness type. Emotional loneliness is caused by aspects such as no one to care for, feelings of envy, rarely visited, loss of communication with family, longing for family, not married, lastly left by a partner who has passed away. Social loneliness is caused by aspects, namely not being able to see, not having friends to confide in/invited to exchange ideas, relationships that are not well established and isolated. Efforts made by the elderly to overcome loneliness are participating in recitations, participating in rabanah, praying, grazing, morning exercises and helping officers.
