Abstract
In 2021, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) reported that there were 60 million tons of Hazardous and Toxic Materials (B3) Waste produced, however only about 13.26 million tons (22.5%) were successfully utilized. PT Sumatera Prima Fibreboard was one of the industries engaged in the processing of plywood, namely Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) where production activities and company activities produce Hazardous and Toxic Waste (B3). This study aims to analyze the management of Hazardous and Toxic Waste (B3) at PT Sumatera Prima Fibreboard Indralaya Ogan Ilir Regency in 2023 with the variables used were reduction, sorting, packaging, storage, transportation and reporting. This research was a descriptive qualitative research using data collection methods, namely in-depth interviews, observation and review of documents as well as validity testing carried out through triangulation of data, methods and sources. The number of informants in this study were 7 people including 2 people as key informants, namely department managers Safety Health and Environment (SHE) and the person in charge of B3 Waste PT SPF or Environment Specialist and 5 people as the main informants namely SHE Officer, Environment Officer, producing department and B3 Waste transport officer. The results of the study showed that overall the management of B3 waste was in accordance with Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021, but there were still some deficiencies, namely not optimal in making efforts to reduce it, there was still mixing of B3 waste, handwashing facilities were not yet available at temporary storage place (TPS) for hazardous waste, TPS for hazardous waste. B3 has not been cleaned every day, therefore improvements were still needed in order to optimize the management of B3 waste in accordance with applicable regulations.
