Abstract

SUMMARY The Lematang River is located in South Sumatera Province which is one of the Batanghari Nine or Nine Great Rivers that flows in South Sumatera. The Lematang River is used by residents for livelihoods, such as sand and coral extraction, irrigation, green open spaces and tourist attractions. These various activities can indirectly lead to a decrease in river water quality and affect the presence of macrozoobenthos due to disturbed habitat. This study aims to find out and compare the macrozoobenthic community structure which includes composition, density, diversity index, dominance index and community similarity index at several location points in the Upstream Lematang River, Pagar Alam City. The research was conducted in February-May 2023 located in the Upstream Lematang River. Observation and identification of macrozoobenthos were carried out at the Ecology Laboratory and Physiology and Development Laboratory, Department of Biology, FMIPA, Sriwijaya University. Measurement of physical parameters was carried out directly in the field and testing for TSS levels was carried out at the Palembang Industrial Standardization and Service Center. The stages of this study consisted of taking samples in the field, measuring the physical-chemical parameters of the waters, observing and identifying samples obtained from the field, and analyzing the data. Based on the results of the identification of macrozoobenthos samples at 5 stations, 3 phylum were obtained, 1 class from Arthropoda phylum, 1 class from Annelida phylum and 1 class from Mollusca phylum. 6 orders from the phylum Arthropoda, 1 order from the phylum Annelida and 1 order from the phylum Mollusca. At 5 stations there were 16 families and 20 genera of macrozoobenthos. The diversity index range of the five stations is between 1.6-2.1 which indicates a moderate level of diversity. The range of dominance index values is between 0.1-0.2 which indicates that there is no dominant macrozoobenthos. Based on the Community Structure of the Macrozoobenthos, the upstream waters of the Lematang River are classified as good. Keywords : Structure of Community, Macrozoobenthos, Upstream Lematang River RINGKASAN Sungai Lematang terletak di Provinsi Sumatera Selatan yang termasuk salah satu Batanghari Sembilan atau Sembilan Sungai Besar yang mengalir di Sumatera Selatan. Sungai Lematang oleh penduduk dimanfaatkan sebagai mata pencaharian, seperti pengambilan pasir dan koral, irigasi, ruang terbuka hijau dan tempat wisata. Berbagai aktivitas yang dilakukan tersebut secara tidak langsung dapat menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kualitas air sungai dan berpengaruh terhadap keberadaan makrozoobentos karena habitat yang terganggu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan membandingkan struktur komunitas makrozoobentos yang mencakup komposisi, kepadatan, indeks keanekaragaman, indeks dominansi dan indeks kesamaan komunitas di beberapa titik lokasi pada aliran Sungai Lematang Bagian Hulu, Kota Pagar Alam. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari-Mei 2023 berlokasi di Bagian Hulu Sungai Lematang. Pengamatan dan identifikasi makrozoobentos dilakukan di Laboratorium Ekologi dan Laboratorium Fisiologi dan Perkembangan, Jurusan Biologi, FMIPA, Universitas Sriwijaya. Pengukuran parameter fisika dilakukan secara langsung di lapangan dan pengujian kadar TSS dilakukan di Balai Standardisasi dan Pelayanan Jasa Industri Palembang. Tahapan dari penelitian ini terdiri atas pengambilan sampel di lapangan, pengukuran parameter fisika-kimia perairan, proses pengamatan dan identifikasi sampel yang didapat dari lapangan, serta analisis data. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi sampel makrozoobentos pada 5 stasiun didapatkan 3 filum, 1 kelas dari filum Arthropoda, 1 kelas dari filum Annelida dan 1 kelas dari filum Mollusca. 6 ordo dari filum Arthropoda, 1 ordo dari filum Annelida dan 1 ordo dari filum Mollusca. Pada 5 stasiun terdapat sebanyak 16 family dan 20 genera makrozoobentos. Rentang indeks keaanekaragaman kelima stasiun berada di 1,6-2,1 yang menunjukkan tingkat keanekaragaman sedang. Rentang nilai indeks dominansi berada diantara 0,1-0,2 yang menandakan bahwa tidak ada jenis makrozoobentos yang mendominansi. Berdasarkan Struktur Komunitas Makrozoobentos tersebut perairan bagian hulu Sungai Lematang tergolong baik. Kata Kunci : Struktur Komunitas, Makrozoobentos, Sungai Lematang Bagian Hulu
