Abstract

Diarrhea is an endemic disease in Indonesia and always occupies the top 10 health problems due to poor sanitation. The incidence of diarrhea in South Sumatra in 2019 reached 174,808 cases. In Tanjung Ali Village, there were 19 cases of diarrhea in toddlers recorded at the village health center in 2021. One of the important factors related to the spread of diarrhea is environmental factors, behavior, and the characteristics of the toddlers themselves. This study aims to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation and diarrhea in toddlers in Tanjung Ali village, Jejawi district, Ogan Komering Ilir district. This study used a cross-sectional research design with a simple random sampling technique of 73 toddlers. Data collection uses questionnaires and check list sheets. .The analysis technique was carried out using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods using the SPSS application with the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression prediction models. The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between the variables of gender, age, exclusive breastfeeding, quality of landfills, and quality of latrines with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. As for the related research variables, namely the habits of parents of toddlers' CTPS, the quality of clean water, and the quality of SPAL. The conclusion of this study is that the variable most related to the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers is the habit of CTPS of parents of toddlers with p-value = 0.001 ; PR 16,131. The suggestion in this study is that people should switch to using public latrines instead of using bongs for urinating and defecating. The community should also make CTPS a continuous and prolonged habit.
