Abstract

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) are a set of symptoms related to muscle tissue, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, nervous system, bone structure, and blood vessels. Several risk factors can increase the likelihood of workers suffering from MSDs symptoms. The more risk factors inherent in a job, the greater the risk of MSDs disorders that may occur. Factors that affect the occurrence of MSDs are in the form of whole body vibration. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Whole Body Vibration and Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) complaints in heavy equipment operators at the Muara Enim Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office. This study is a Cross-Sectional study with a quantitative approach. Respondents selected were 30 heavy equipment operators at the PUPR Muara Enim Office. The results of bivariate analysis were that there was a significant relationship between Whole Body Vibration and the incidence of MSDs in heavy equipment operators at the PUPR Office of Muara Enim Regency (P-value <0.05). The cause of MSDs is vibration and is supported by individual factors and heavy equipment factors. Prevention strategies are management commitment, workplace analysis, hierarchy of control (substitution, engineering control, administrative control), training, and evaluation. The prevention strategy implemented at the PUPR Office is still considered not optimal, there needs to be a strategy that must be carried out for the prevention of vibration throughout the body in the workplace for heavy equipment operators for better health.
