Abstract

This study aims to test the performance of rafts driven by outboard electric motors. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Indralaya Campus, Sriwijaya University. With details of the location of the Machinery and Workshop Laboratory and Pool for the Department of Soil Science, from May 2023 to July 2023. This study used an experimental method, presenting the results using descriptive data in the form of tables and graphs. This research method consists of several stages, namely literature study, observation, field data, planning and calculations, preparation of tools and materials, manufacture of a series of voltage chargers. The parameters used in this study included testing the speed of the raft, battery life and efficiency of charging the battery using electrical energy, the amount of energy that can be released by the battery, the power required by the outboard motor, and the speed of water and wind flow. The results of this study indicate that the average amount of available power based on the ability of two 100 Wp solar panels for 5 days of testing is 89.12 W stored in a 100 ah/ 12 v VRLA battery and the energy produced can be used to operate electric motors outboard DC 12 V. The parameters observed in this study are cross- sectional area, pipe volume, buoyancy force analysis, design load, water flow velocity, wind speed, and raft speed. From the research that has been done, the results show that the cross- sectional area of ​​the raft is 56,000 cm2, the overall volume of the pipe is 0.2516 m3, the available energy in the battery is 1200 Wh, the average power required to start the outboard electric motor is 159.05 W, the battery is able to provide energy for the motor for 7 hours 30 minutes, the average speed of the raft in motion is 1584 meters per hour, slower than the average ship speed of 10-15 knots.
