Abstract

The government's decision to tackle the increase in mortality in the elderly due to Covid-19 is carried out by conducting a Covid-19 booster vaccine in all regions of Indonesia, but there is a discrepancy in the desired target results. One of the areas that have problems in the number of targets of the Covid-19 booster vaccine in the elderly is Payaraman District, the area with the lowest target results in Ogan Ilir Regency. This study aims to determine the determinant factors associated with the elderly’s response to the Covid-19 booster vaccine. The method used in this research was quantitative with a cross-sectional study design and approach. The sampling was conducted using probability sampling in the working area of Payaraman Public Health Center. The technique used was Cluster Sampling with a total of 95 respondents. Data analysis used in this study was univariate analysis with frequency distribution, bivariate with chi-square, and multivariate using logistic regression with predictive factors. The results of this study found that the variables that were significantly related and most associated with the elderly's response to the Covid-19 booster vaccine were age with a p value of 0.014 in the chi-square test and a final p value of 0.009 in the multivariable logistic regression test. Meanwhile, the variable that was least significantly related to the elderly's response to the Covid-19 booster vaccine was the subjective norm variable with a p value of 1,000. This study found that age as the most related factor because elderly people aged 60-69 years thought they no longer need the Covid-19 booster vaccine and had concerns about its side effects. Age was a determining factor for a person's maturity in thinking because it affected affective, cognitive, and attitude changes. In relation to this, the elderly aged 60-69 years made more decisions to refuse, while the elderly ≥ 70 years were more likely not to refuse.
