Abstract

Men Sex Men are a group that contributes to an increase in the number of HIV/AIDS cases caused by risky sexual behavior. This is caused by the lifestyle of MSM who do not use condoms, have multiple sex partners, and perform oral and anal intercourse in sexual intercourse. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the analysis of the determinants of adherence to the use of sexual personal protective equipment (PPE) among men of male sex (MSM). This research is included in the quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The research sample used was 187 people. Data analysis techniques are performed in the form of tables and narratives to interpret the results of the data that has been processed. The results showed that there were 4 variables related to compliance with the use of sexual PPE, namely knowledge (p-value = 0.000), condom access (p-value = 0.000), fear of infection (p-value = 0.000), and MSM comfort (p-value = 0.034). There are 5 variables that are not related to adherence to the use of sexual PPE, namely age (pvalue = 0.956), education (p-value = 0.631), attitude (p-value = 0.096), support (p-value = 0.472), and sexual orientation (p-value = 0.143). Based on multivariate analysis, it was found that the most influential factor was knowledge (p-value = 0.000). The suggestion in this research is that it is expected to increase assistance to MSM and health workers to be more proactive and empathetic in providing understanding so that they can increase compliance with MSM in using sexual condoms or PPE.
