Abstract

The prevalence of wasting cases in Indonesia will increase by 0.6% in 2022. In 2021 the prevalence of wasting cases will be 7.1% and in 2022 it will increase to 7.7%. PALI Regency is the area with the third most wasting cases in South Sumatra based on the 2022 of Survei Status Gizi Indonesia (SSGI), namely 9.0%. The working area of the Karta Dewa Health Center is the research location in this study. Several factors that can cause wasting in toddlers include the application of personal hygiene, and environmental sanitation conditions. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between personal hygiene and environmental sanitation with the incidence of wasting in toddlers in the Lematang River, PALI Regency. This research is a cross sectional research. The number of samples in this study were 138 respondents using simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed using SPSS with the chi square test. The results showed that 3 out of 6 variables had a relationship with wasting, including cleanliness of cutlery (P-value 0.003), waste management (P-value 0.006), and availability of clean water (P-value 0.000) on wasting in toddlers. The most dominant risk factor is the availability of clean water (PR 25.059). Not draining the water reservoir on a regular basis can lead to wasting in toddlers, so it is advisable to regularly drain the water reservoir at least once a week.
