Abstract

One measure of social and economic conditions in assessing the success of government development in a region is the poverty level. This study aims to analyze the effect of economic growth, unemployment and school enrollment rates on poverty rates in Java Island in 2007-2021. The object of this study is 4 provinces that have the highest poverty rate on the island of Java, including D.I Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java and West Java. Quantitative research methods that use panel data analysis techniques are a combination of time-spries data and cross-section data with selected models, namely fixed effect models. The results of this study show that unemployment variables and school enrollment rates have a positive and significant effect on the poverty rate while economic growth variables do not have a positive and significant effect on the poverty rate in 4 provinces in Java Island within 15 years from 2007-2021. Keywords: poverty rate, unemployment, school enrollment rate, panel data, fixed effect model.
