Abstract

BKSDA Sumatera Selatan a Technical Implementation Unit at the echelon III level (or echelon II for a large office) under Direktorat Jenderal Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam dan Ekosistem Kementrian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Republik Indonesia. Belantara Foundation is a global non-profit organization based in Indonesia that works to protect Indonesian landscapes. Both institutions are committed to building public awareness about protected wild animals. This study aims to analyze public awareness in uploads to the instagram account of BKSDA Sumatera Selatan and Belantara Foundation on instagram social media. The data were obtained from the results of documentation from literature studies using quantitative content analysis research methods. The theory used in this research is to build public awareness according to Wu, Yinglin et al regarding three types of information sources to encourage public awareness about protected wildlife conservation. The results of this study indicate that the South Sumatra BKSDA is more dominant in building public awareness about protected wildlife conservation with a percentage of 71.7%, Belantara Foundation with a percentage of 28.3%.
