Abstract

This research aims to determine the gatekeeping process in the Sapa Sumbagsel program on Kompas TV Palembang. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. Based on the five levels in the hierarchy of influence, it shows that work experience can have an influence or form of action in the news publishing process through a gatekeeper. The news gathering, news production and news editing routines at Kompas TV Palembang are produced by reporters, journalists and editors. The value and sources of news obtained by Kompas TV Palembang prioritize credibility obtained from related sources. In Kompas TV Palembang there is also intervention and gratification carried out by political parties or other parties, which of course deviates from the basic principles of Kompas TV Palembang, namely, being independent and trustworthy.
