Abstract
The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is an indicator of the success of a country's services. Every day, around 830 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. The purpose of this study was to identify an epidemiological study of maternal mortality in the province of South Sumatra during the Covid-19 pandemic. This type of research uses a descriptive epidemiological study method using a case series design with a quantitative method. The research location is in South Sumatra, with a study sample of 131 cases of maternal death in 2021. Data analysis used univariate analysis with the SPSS program, estimated epidemiological calculations, and used Spatial GIS. The results of this study Age >= 20-35 years (45.8%), housewife work (34.4%), high school education (29.8%), primigravinda pregnancy category (55.0%), birth attendant health worker (96.2%), other causes of death (39.7%), place of delivery of health services (96.2%), results of epidemiological calculations of muratara and empat lawang districts with 18 maternal mortality rates per 10,000 births alive, then there is OKU with 17 maternal mortality rates per 10,000 live births in the province of 85 deaths per 100,000 live births, GIS results show that the highest maternal mortality rate is in the Banyuasin area with 20 maternal mortality rates. Therefore it is hoped that the government of South Sumatra will pay more attention to infrastructure and increase knowledge of pregnant women.
