Abstract

Background: Dental caries is a complex pathology involving the demineralization of dental hard tissue and predominantly affecting children. Preventive strategies can involve the use of anticariogenic substances, such as Casein Phosphopeptide Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (CPP-ACP). CPP-ACP, a dental biomaterial, exerts inhibitory effects on bacterial proliferation within carious lesions and elicits the process of remineralization in primary tooth crowns. Objective: The objective of this research is to assess the impact of varying concentrations of CPP-ACP on the remineralization process of primary tooth crowns. Method: This study employed an in vitro laboratory experimental design utilizing an analytical experimental pretest and post-test approach. The samples comprised extracted central incisor primary tooth crowns selected through purposive sampling technique. The research consisted of three distinct treatments, with each treatment involving 10 teeth. The test group was exposed to CPP-ACP at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. Remineralization of the primary tooth crowns was measured using digital analytical scales, both before and after the treatment. Results: The findings of this study revealed that the 15% concentration of CPP-ACP exhibited the highest weight value of 0.0781 g. The 10% concentration demonstrated a weight value of 0.0770 g, while the 5% concentration exhibited a weight value of 0.0760 g. Conclusion: An increase in the concentration of CPP-ACP administered corresponded to the remineralization in the primary tooth crown.
