Abstract
The utilization of geothermal energy as a renewable energy source has been an interesting research topic in recent decades. One of the most efficient thermal cycles in converting geothermal heat into electricity is the binary cycle. In the binary cycle, an organic working fluid is used to transfer heat from the geothermal heat source to the turbine to produce electrical energy. This study aims to perform thermodynamic analysis on geothermal power plants with binary cycles, both with and without a regenerator. The regenerator is a component responsible for enhancing the cycle efficiency by regenerating wasted heat during the expansion process. This study will compare the performance of both systems by considering thermal efficiency, turbine performance, and changes in entropy at each component. The research methodology will involve mathematical modeling. Data and parameters will be extracted from reliable literature and laboratory testing to ensure the validity and accuracy of the analysis. The results of this study are expected to provide insights into the efficiency and performance of geothermal power plants with binary cycles, with and without a regenerator. This information will aid in the development and optimization of more efficient and sustainable system designs for harnessing the geothermal potential as an alternative energy source.
