Abstract

PT Pacific Global Utama is a company that is engaged in the coal mining industry situated in Desa Tanjung Lalang, Kecamatan Tanjung Agung, Kabupaten Muara Enim, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan, with an IUP area of 1485 ha. PT Pacific Global Utama is currently carrying out an overburden extraction activity at Pit Timur, which is carried out using 1 unit of Komatsu PC400 LC excavator and the largest operating hauler being 2 units of Caterpillar 773E HD dump truck, with the production target of 110.000 bcm per month. The haul road that is used from the front towards disposal is currently not in an optimal condition, which in turn caused a low number of hauler productivity during material hauling process. To increase productivity, repair is needed on the road’s geometry and bearing capacity. From the research’s result, it is known that the ideal geometry and bearing capacity for the road are as following : ideal straight haul road width : 17,766 m, ideal curved road width : 20,348 m, highest actual grade : 6%, minimum bearing capacity : 368 kPa. With the ideal hauling road geometry and bearing capacity, the productivity of 1 unit of Caterpillar 773E which was originally 43,36 bcm/hr, has increased by 55% to 67,19 bcm/hr.
