Abstract

In planning an earthquake-resistant building, one important aspect is selecting the structural model. Therefore, this research aims to determine the comparison of structural performance between the dual system model and the frame in the case study model. The modeling in this research was carried out using Etabs V18 software, with 3 structural models, where 1 structural model will be modeled based on the existing structure (dual system) and the modified model is an open frame with dilation. Where model 2a is for the left piece, the existing model is modified with a frame and model 2b is the right piece. The structure to be modeled consists of a basement, 16 floors, roof and crown. In modeling research, it was carried out to compare the performance of the structure against the earthquake forces in the city of Batam, in the form of displacement values, drift between floors, drift ratio. From the results, it was found that the basic shear force value for Model 1 was greater than for Models 2 and 3 frames. For the deviation between floors, it was found that the three models had deviation values that were still within the permit limits. And the drift ratio for model 1 produces a smaller value than the other two models. Next, the dilation distance between model 2a and 3 structures was calculated, resulting in a dilation distance of 94.43mm. And also checking the concrete volume requirements in the existing model 1 with models 2 and 3, it was found that there was an increase in volume of 4.35% from the existing model 1.
