Abstract

Gajah Sumatera termasuk hewan yang masuk kedalam kategori terancam punah atau Critically Endangered (CR) Upaya pelestarian gajah terus dilakukan oleh pemerintah, salah satu cara yaitu dengan pembangunan Pusat Latihan Gajah Jalur 21 di Suaka Margasatwa Padang Sugihan. Permasalahan yang sering dialami oleh gajah pada wilayah konservasi yaitu permasalahan kesehatan, salah satunya infeksi endoparasit. Untuk mengatasi permahasalah infeksi perlu dilakukan identifikasi dan perhitungan prevalensi untuk pengambilan langkah selanjutnya. Pemeriksaan sampel dilakukan secara langsung (natif) dengan metode konsentrasi apung. Secara keseluruhan didapatkan 6 jenis endoparasit dari 5 famili berbeda beserta dengan prevalensinya, didapatkan spesies yang paling banyak menginfeksi dari spesies Strongloides sp. (86,2 %) dan yang terkecil Fasciola sp. (3,44 %).
