Abstract

This study aims to describe and find out the purpose of euphemism and dysphemism in netizens' comments on Najwa Shihab's YouTube channel with the theme "Against Corona". The research method used is qualitative method. Qualitative methods are used in language research because these methods are more adapted to the sharpening of influence and to patterns of value. The data sources in this study are video uploads on Najwa Shihab's YouTube channel "Against Corona" from part 1 to part 7 in which thereare netizen comments containing euphemisms and desfimisms. The analysis method used is recording, listening, and recording in order to obtain data credibility. Based on the euphemism data analyzed, the researcher concluded that there are some people using language styles to soften sentences that aim not to hurt the feelings of readers. Based on the disfemism data obtained, the researcher concluded that there are most people who have not been able to control typing when commenting.
