Abstract

This research examines "Community Responses to Motorbike Begal in Rural Areas (case study: Budi Mulya Village, Air Kumbang District, Banyuasin Regency)". Robbery on the street or better known as robbery. This event is a crime or criminal act which is a form of deviant behavior, in fact it is inherent in every form of society. Many ways and efforts have been made to reduce this robbery crime, from the Police, Regional Government to the village community. This study aims to determine the community's response to the presence of motorbike thieves in Budi Mulya Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, purposive determination of informants. Data collection techniques by way of observation, interviews and documentation. This study was analyzed using the concept of Stimulus Organism Response (SOR). The results of this study indicate that there is a change in behavior given by the community after the incident of motorbike robbery. The community's response was shown in two ways, namely, by allowing and ignoring the muggings that occurred as if there was no danger around them. Meanwhile, some people responded to the robbery case with swift, fast and responsive actions. Keywords: community response, motorbike robbery
