Abstract

Discrimination is an unjust action that occurs in society. Discrimination against women is an ongoing issue. In the film "Queen of Katwe," there are various forms of discrimination against women, and it is interesting to examine how these forms of discrimination are depicted in the film. This research utilizes Roland Barthes' semiotic method through a two-step signification method. The study also employs Kimberle Crenshaw's theory of intersectionality, which focuses on the discrimination faced by women based on multiple aspects. The findings of the research indicate that discrimination against women is not solely based on their gender but can also be influenced by other aspects, as experienced through their encounters with discrimination.
