Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the factors that cause adolescents to drop out of school at the junior high school level in Ulak Banding Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The type of research used in this study, the authors used qualitative research, with a descriptive approach, the research subjects consisted of 9 subjects, with the criteria of 1 village head, 4 parents of children who had dropped out of school, and 4 children who had dropped out of school. The source of this research was obtained through an interview process. The analytical technique used is triangulation which consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the causes of children dropping out of school in the village of Ulak Banal are due to the lack of interest of children in school, the surrounding environment, because of the family's economic situation, social conditions, and children's health. Suggestions from this study: Conduct outreach/outreach to the community by bringing in resource persons from the education office, to increase awareness of the importance of education.
