Abstract
Expansive clay soil is one of the problematic soil type, when build a construction such as roads would be bad if not being reinforced. This is because the land has low bearing capacity and high potential of shrinkage which occurs when the water content changes. In this research, reinforcement of expansive clay use Chemical stabilization with that stabilizer named soil binder and ceiling gypsum waste, which aims to determine changes in the value of CBR (California Bearing Ratio) using CBR tests Unsoaked. Variations mixture of a stabilizing substance which is 20 g / liter of water, 25 gr / liter of water, and 30 g / liter of water for soil binder, and the percentage of ceiling gypsum waste by 5%, 10%, and 15% with the treatment period for 0 day, 7 days and 14 days. Based on the results of the research are tested in the laboratory, the value of plasticity index (IP) was obtained by 42%, in CBR test Unsoaked CBR obtained at 3.26% and the value of the soil bearing capacity obtained at 3.91 to the original soil. When original soil mixed with stabilizers, plasticity index value dropped by nearly 11.24%. on the other hand, for the test Unsoaked CBR, the CBR value increased by the percentage increase from 26.38% to 132.38%. Similarly to the CBR value, the value of the soil bearing capacity also increased to 5.49. Variations of soil-binder mixture with a concentration of 20 g / liter of water and the percentage of gypsum ceiling waste at 10% is the most optimal variation mixture with CBR values of 7.59% and the value of bearing capacity of 5.49 at the time of treatment of 14 days.
