Abstract

Macan Lindungan as the access to the main road in Palembang city has a big influence towards the daily public activities. Water infiltration areas and green open land in this area have been changed to be a residential area, it caused Macan Lindungan very susceptible happen floods. The purpose of this study was to analyze the flood hydrograph design in the catchment area, calculate the wide area and capacity of retention pond, calculates the pump capacity required for a retention pond and simulates the performance retention ponds using HEC-HMS program. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The location of this research is at the intersection of Macan Lindungan’s Street in Palembang city. Analysis data was performed to determine the design discharge capacity with SCS-CN method and do simulation with HEC-HMS program to get pump capacity and wide area of the pool. Based on the results analysis with rainfall data for the period of 5 years, obtained rainfall plans is 131.538 mm. The results ffom HEC-HMS program, obtained the maximum value of inflow in the catchment area is 13.07 m3/sec and the maximum outflow is 3.87 m3/sec. While using a flood routing approach methods, the maximum discharge value (inflow) obtained 14.441 m3/sec and outflow is 3.86 m3/sec. The planned retention pond area is 2 Ha with the depth of the pool is 2.8 meters. Based on the results of the analysis of retention based on fimction between volume and an elevation in the program HEC-HMS obtained the initial volume is 22000 m3, the storage volume is 34000 m3 and total volume in retention ponds is 54000 m3. While the pump used has a minimum flow is 1.15 m3/sec and a maximum flow is 2 m3/sec. The pumps are planned to be 2 units with the intake elevation is +0.5 meters, that will begin operating at an elevation of 1.8 meters and will stop at normal water surface elevation of 1.1 meters.
