Abstract

Based on data from the profile of the Ogan Ilir District Health Office in 2021, the Talang Prince Health Center achieved exclusive breastfeeding of 21.3% and has not reached the expected target of 80% getting exclusive breastfeeding. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the behavior of exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Talang Prince Health Center. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study were all breastfeeding mothers who had babies aged 6-24 months, with a total of 70 samples using the Lemesshow formula. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Analysis of the research data is univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with statistical chi-square test and multiple logistic regression test. The results of this study showed that the proportion of exclusive breastfeeding at the Talang Prince Health Center was 39 (44.3%). Factors related to exclusive breastfeeding behavior in the Talang Prince Health Center Work Area were work (p-value=0.470), knowledge (p-value=0.050), attitude (p-value=0.017), availability of information (p-value=0.029), husband's support (p-value=0.037), family support (p-value=0.027) and support from health workers (p-value=0.750). The dominant factor for exclusive breastfeeding is knowledge, with a POR value of 4.172 95% CI 0.256-35.798 after controlling for the availability of information and family support. There is a relationship between knowledge, attitude, availability of information, husband's support, and family support. There is no relationship between work and the support of health workers with exclusive breastfeeding. Health workers are expected to carry out intensive health promotion efforts through direct communication to the public about the importance of breastfeeding.
