Abstract

Job stress is the response shown by the workforce when faced with work demands and work pressure that are not in accordance with their knowledge and abilities. Job demands and length of work also integrate mental, physical and emotional abilities, thereby increasing the vulnerability to work stress. The prevalence of work stress in Indonesia for the 2019/2020 period was significantly higher than the previous period, in 2018/2019 there were 602,000 cases, with a prevalence rate of 1,800 cases per 100,000 workers, especially in industrial workers in Batam City, known as the City of Shipbuilding Industry where the number of workers as many as 767,507 souls. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for work stress in welder workers at PT. VME PROCESS Batam City in 2023. A cross-sectional study design with a total sample of 123 people. The independent variables in this study are Age, Marital Status, Number of children, Years of Service, Years of Service, Job Demands, Work Control, Social Support and Interpersonal Relationships. The analysis technique was carried out using univariate, bivariate and multivariate methods. The results showed that 26% of respondents experienced work stress. Variables related to work stress are length of work (p-value 0.026), tenure (p-value 0.006), job demands (0.001) social support (0.036). The results of the analysis show that job demands are the most dominant variable related to work stress. The PR value shows that workers with a job demands score > 24% have a 3.296 greater risk of experiencing work stress compared to workers with a job demands score <24% after controlling for variables. length of work and working time. The suggestion is that workers must work according to the workload they receive, companies must provide appropriate rewords for workers who have high job demands.
