Abstract

Cancer markers, or substances indicating the presence of specific cancers in the human body, are molecules found in the human body that provide indications of certain types of cancer. Numerous cancer markers have been discovered. However, this research focuses only on six specific cancer markers: Jurkat, HeLa, PC-12, MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, and Basal. Blood samples are also used as an additional component to assess the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) sensor's performance in detecting substances with refractive index values ranging from 1.36 to 1.44. The research is conducted solely through simulations using Lumerical FDTD Solutions software. The advantage of using Lumerical FDTD Solutions for simulation lies in maintaining a controlled SPR environment, ensuring no contamination occurs. The optimization is achieved by utilizing a 50 nm-thick gold thin film as the sensor chip. By employing blood samples with different refractive index values, researchers can determine the sensitivity of SPR in detecting various refractive indices.
