Abstract
Coal resource estimation is the process of calculating coal in the subsurface using exploration drilling data. Furthermore, coal deposition environment analysis is carried out to determine the environmental conditions and characteristics of coal to be able to carry out further mining stages This study aims to calculate resource estimation and coal deposition environment analysis. This research was conducted by field mapping using stratigraphic measurement method, polygon method to determine coal estimation results, and proximate analysis method with sulfur content and ash content parameters to interpret the deposition environment. In addition, this research also uses petrographic analysis method to identify rock lithology. The estimated coal resource at the research site is 62,371.99 tonnes. The lithologies identified at the research site are sandstone, mudstone, and coal. The composition of coal sulphur content in the sample is low (0.36-0.43%) and the composition of ash content in the sample is low (1.74-2.10%). The results indicate that the coal deposition environment was not influenced by seawater. Instead, the coal was deposited inland in an upper delta-plain fluvial environment with Channel deposition as a sub-environment.
