Abstract
Tooth and bone growth are influenced by many factors so that there are inter-racial differences. The majority of Indonesians populations is Deutromalay subrace. Racial differences can affect individual tooth size and stature. Knowledge of variatons in tooth and bone size can help health practitioners in dental care applications, especially in orthodontic. This study aimed to determine the correlation between maxillary central incisor tooth length and stature in Deutromalay subrace. This study was an analytical observational research with a cross sectional design. This study involved 60 college students of PSKG Sriwijaya University (30 males and 30 females). Length measurements of the maxillary central incisor tooth were carried out directly on clinical crown and on periapical radiograph using digital sliding caliper. Stature was measured using stadiometer. Data were analysed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Pearson correlation test. The mean length of maxillary central incisor in males was 22,43 mm and in females 21,71 mm. The mean stature of the males in this study was 169,70 cm and for females 157,13 mm. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed normally distribution of data (p>0,05). It is concluded that there is no correlation between maxillary central incisor tooth length and stature of Deutromalay subrace (p>0,05).
