Abstract

Many patients with hypertension are found to experience sleep quality problems. One effort that can be made to overcome sleep quality problems is by providing a combination of warm water foot soak therapy and lavender aromatherapy. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of warm water foot soak therapy and lavender aromatherapy on the sleep quality of patients with hypertension. This research method uses a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest with a control group design. The research sample was 32 hypertension patients using a non-probability purposive sampling technique with 16 respondents in the intervention group and 16 respondents in the control group. Sleep quality uses sleep quality questionnaire (KKT) measurements. Data analysis used the marginal homogeneity statistical test and the Mann-Whitney test. Based on the results of the marginal homogeneity test, p=0.000 was obtained in the intervention group and p=0.317 in the control group. The results of the Mann-Whitney test obtained p=0.000, meaning there was a significant difference between the sleep quality of the intervention group and the control group after the post-test. The results of this study showed that there was a difference in giving a combination of warm water foot soak therapy and lavender aromatherapy to the sleep quality of 16 respondents with hypertension in the intervention group. The combination of warm water foot soak therapy and lavender aromatherapy can be used as an alternative therapy to improve the sleep quality of patient with hypertension.
