Abstract
The research location is in the Ulak Bandung area, Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province, this area is included in the geological sheet of Manna and Enggano Sumatra. Geologically, the study area has a dominating sandstone lithology, especially in the Lemau Formation. Sandstones in the Lemau Formation are Middle Miocene – Late Miocene in transitional environments with gradual transgression phases turning into regression due to sequence changes. This study used several rock samples analyzed by petrographic methods and then interpreted starting from the naming of rocks, the origin of rocks, the origin of rock minerals and their ancient climate. The study area consists of 3 landforms, namely denudational hills with steep to very steep slopes, low denudational hills with gentle to steep slopes, and channel irregular meanders. In general, the stratigraphic unit of the study area consists of three formations sorted from old to young are Upstream Formation (Tomh), Lemau Formation (Tml) and andesite-basalt lava volcano unit (Qv(m)). Then there are 2 geological structures, namely the wide water fault and the Bandung Ulak fault. There are 6 samples of Lemau Formation sandstones showing deposition originating from the grinding of Bukit Barisan. As well as a sub angular-sub rounded shape with sorting Floating contact and point contact. Based on the percentage of minerals, two samples entered the sublitharenite type and one sample entered the litharenite type and three samples entered the Feldspastic wacke. From the tectonic order, samples enter into 2 zones, namely magmatic arc and recucled orogen. The magmatic arc zone consists of TML 12 sub-zone dissected arc sandstone samples, TMl 20 sub-zone transital arc, TMl 25 sub-zone transitional arc and TML 66 sub-zone dissected arc, while the recycled orogen zone is divided into TML 40 sub-zone quartzose recycled, and TML 69 sub-zone quartzose recycled. Quartz minerals in all sandstone samples come from acidic or plutonic igneous rocks in the form of granite that undergo a process of low rank metamorphic (low rank metamorphic). The results of ancient climate analysis found that samples, TML 40, and TML 69 are in a humid temperate climate (Cf) that has a fairly intensive weathering impact, And samples of TML 12, TML 20, TML 25, and TML 66 are in a temperate climate with a dry summer (Cs) which is characterized by a lower weathering process compared to the climate (Cf).
