Abstract

PT Langgeng Daya Agrindo is a mining service provider company in collaboration with PT Budi Gema Gempita, one of the coal mining companies, located in Muara Lawai Village, East Merapi District, Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province. High rainfall in recent months has caused the formation of temporary sump in the eastern area of pit section II covering coal seam 6 that to be exposed. Process of exposing coal seam 6 is hampered because the pump used for sump drying process cannot move the mud in the sump so that separate activities are needed to move the mud. The purpose of this study is to calculate the estimated volume of mud contained in sump A and sump B, review the technicalities of mud removal, and determine the number of hauling equipment and the length of time for mud removal. Based on calculations using Minescape 5.7 software, the estimated volume of mud contained in sump A is 44,821.96 m3 and sump B is 22,359.11 m3. The removal method used is the conventional method, which is a combination of excavator and articulated dump trucks with mud handling techniques at the sump are blending with clay material and making embankments on the ADT’s vessel using clay material, and using level dump method then laminating with hard material at the disposal. The number of hauling equipment used in sump A is 8 units with a removal time of ±370 hours and 6 units for sump B with a removal time of ±255 hours.
