Abstract

Soil is the most important part of the construction work. Soil conditions are very influential on the construction to be built on it. Therefore, then soil condition and the physical properties should be known in advance before doing contruction on it. To increase the strength of soil, soil stabilization is done by adding chopped beverage cans into the soil. In tis study, the percentages of chopped beverage cans mixed are 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% out of dry weight o the soil. To know the strength of soil, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and direct shear test. The mixing of chopped beverage cans affects the value of unconfined compressive strength (qu) and soil shear strength (Ʈ). On the variation of 6% (AKM 6), the unconfined compressive strength (qu) have the biggest value. the unconfined compressive strength o 1,23 kg/cm2 showed a rise of 186% in unmixed soil, while the soil shear strength on te variation 6% (AKM 6) of 33,76 kg/cm2 showed a rise o 50,31% in unmixed soil.
