Abstract

The traditional market is one of the places to make buying and selling are still using the traditional systern, where the interaetion and negotiation between the seiler to the buyer directly. Along with the rapid growth and development of the city of Palembang is inevitable popping up the more shopping centers in the city of Palembang. In Palembang has a traditional market that require special attention one of which is the Market 10 Ulu . 10 Ulu market as one of the traditional markets in terms of strategic location because it is elose enough to the river that is charactcristic of Palembang and multi-ethnic population settlements. But in rcality the market conditions were filthy, unorganizcd, and of the condition of the structure began worrying can interfere with the comfort and security of market users and the cnvironmcnt. So by taking into account the physical design eriteria 10 Ulu market in the city's architectural aspects, functional standards , and the ereation of a local charactcr who uses a contextual approach to the architecture of the surrounding environment is expected to create a traditional market that has a Standard functional, organized, and considering the local characters that can interaet with both communities and environment.
