Abstract

In the midst of today's developments, libraries are starting to be established as spaces that not only provide various book collections, but especially libraries in big cities are conceptualized as places that reflect people's lifestyles, namely libraries with a cafe feel in the city of Palembang. The presence of a cafe library has become a special attraction for the people of Palembang city, thereby supporting the growth of interest in reading (literacy) in the city of Palembang. Apart from that, efforts to design a library cafe exterior concept are made to stand out and make the building look unique and iconic in the community, especially students and students, as well as a library interior concept that is equipped with a cafe which is an attraction for visitors to feel at home in visiting the building. The design method used consists of searching for design problems (data collection, problem formulation, and design approach), analysis (functional and spatial, contextual, and envelope), synthesis and concept formulation, and design schematics. By highlighting an exterior design concept that looks unique and iconic so that the building is easy to remember, such as the selection of the building facade, there is a reading garden area, and there is an outdoor cafe area. Apart from that, this concept makes the building stand out in terms of the color choice and materials used, such as the use of oak wood on the building facade. Meanwhile, in terms of interior, it uses an industrial cafe concept with exposed brick walls where the bricks are left exposed without another layer of cement and only coated with white paint.
