Abstract

This research was made because of the background of the large number ovehicles parking on the sidewalk of the road. The purpose of this research is to findout how to evaluate the strategy of controlling parking on the sidewalk of JaiarMerdeka by the Palembang City Department of Transportation based on Ricard P.Rumelt's strategy evaluation theory. This research uses a qualitative approach bycollecting data through interviews, documentation, and observation at the PalembangCity Department of Transportation. The results showed that the evaluation of theparking control strategy on the sidewalk of Jalan Merdeka by the Palembang CityDepartment of Transportation had gone well seen through 4 aspects. namelyconsonance, advantage, feasibility, and consistency. Therefore, the Palembang CityDepartment of Transportation should make improvements to the advantage aspect. Itis hoped that there will be innovations or new policies on parking enforcement becausethe current enforcement is still using the old policy, namely Regional Regulation No.14 of 2011 which is no longer effective And the Palembang City Department ofTransportation must also make improvements to the consistency aspect. This is donein order to provide a deterrent effect for people who violate by making parkingcontrols carried out routinely because currently the control carried out is only basedon a Letter of Duty.
