Abstract

Obesity is defined as a condition of abnormal or excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue to a certain degree so that it can damage health. The impact of obesity is hypertension, type 2 diabetes and cardivascular disease. The prevalence of obesity in adults in Indonesia in 2013 was 19.7% in men and 32.9 in women. Pangkalpinang is one of the regions located in the Province of Bangka Belitung with the prevalence of obese adults is 53.52% in 2016. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the incidence of obesity in adults in the work area of the Air Itam Health Center in Pangkalpinang in 2018. This research used the cross Sectional Design. Research samples were adults in the Air Itam Health Center working area totaling 92 people using cluster sampling techniques. The results of univariate analysis showed the prevalence of obesity in adults in the work area of Air Itam Public Health Center in Pangkalpinang was 55.4%. The result of bivariate analysis (Chi-square test) shows that out of 10 independent variables, there are 6 of them who have a relationship with obesity in adults, namely age (p value = 0.001), physical activity (p value = 0.017), energy intake (p value = 0.021) , carbohydrate intake (p value = 0.027), fat intake (p value = 0.001) and protein intake (p value = 0.048), but there is no relationship there are 4 variables including gender (pvalue = 0,904), education (pvalue = 0,852), knowledge (pvalue = 0,245) and fiber intake (pvalue = 0,086) dengan with the incidence of obesity adults. In addition, the most dominant variable fount in fat intake with PR value 16,112.Result of the study describe that respondents pay more attention to the intake of food they eat and do more physical activity.
