Abstract

Background: Mothers indicated to having preterm birth will be given corticosteroid before giving birth. Corticosteroid reduces incidence of HMD by 60% and mortality by 40%. This research aimsto describe the incidence of membrane hyalin disease amongst premature neonates from mothers who received antenatal corticosteroid at RSUP Dr. Mohammad hoesin Palembang from year 2016 till 2017. Method: The type of research used is observational descriptive cross sectional. Population includes all preterm neonates from mothers who received antenatal corticosteroid in Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU) RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from year 2016 till 2017. Research data are preseted in table form and descriptive narration about preterm neonates according to gender and incidence of HMD. Result: From 993 preterm neonates from mothers who received antenatal corticosteroid is it found 54 preterm neonates with HMD(+). Conclusion: 5,4% preterm neonates are still found to be suffering from HMD(+) born from who received antenatal corticosteroid at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from year 2016 till 2017.
