Abstract
This study aims to determine the hydropriming treatment with the best initial temperature in increasing the germination of curly red chili seeds of expired Kawat varieties. This research will be carried out at the Seed Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir in July 2023. This study was conducted using a Complete Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 3 repeats, each repetition consisting of 2 trays with the number of seeds per tray 25. The tested treatment consisted of soaking with initial temperatures of 26℃, 30℃, 35℃, 40℃, and 45℃ for 3 hours. The parameters observed germination percentage, germination rate, uniform growth percentage, radicule length, plumule length, sprout fresh, dry weight, root dry weight, shoot dry weight, and vigor index. The results showed that hydropriming treatment on seeds showed no real difference in all parameters observed. Immersion treatment with an initial temperature of 35℃ gives the best results on the parameters of germination percentage, uniform growth percentage, radicule length, plumule length, sprout fresh, dry weight, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight.
