Abstract

Pornography among teenagers is currently increasingly worrying. Accessing pornography is a negative behavior that is often carried out by teenagers because it is considered a place to fulfill their sexual needs. Therefore, this research aims to determine the determinants of teenagers being exposed to pornography among middle teenagers. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research design, data was obtained through the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method and in-depth interviews with 24 informants: 12 youth key informants, 12 parent support informants, and 3 expert key informants from Diskominfo, BKKBN, and PPPA Pangkalpinang City. Data validation uses triangulation of sources, methods and data. Analysis uses an interactive model and data presentation is presented in table form with descriptions. The research results show that teenagers come from families with middle education, live with their parents, and embrace Islam. The majority of parents tolerate children accessing pornography. Parents are not strict in supervising teenagers in using media and their social environment, with parenting styles that tend to be more permissive and the attachment between parents and children is so weak that there has been no two-way communication regarding pornography and sexual education so far. Teenagers' knowledge regarding pornography is not in line with their attitudes, this is because high lust and curiosity make teenagers motivated to access pornography using gadgets as media via social media and the internet when they are 10-14 years old with a frequency of 3-5 times a month and engaging in sexual activities such as masturbation and sexual fantasies. Teenagers believe that pornography has an influence on them. Teenagers say that many of their friends have been exposed to pornography and this influences them to access pornography because sexting behavior often occurs on their social media. So there is a need to increase and awareness of teenagers towards pornography.
